THERE AND BACK Imperial's Great Solution Takes Hold SITUATION Among the prominent global organizations in Imperial's backyard is a world-class biomedical research institute. A healthy amount of their funding comes through private donations, meaning their fundraising calendar is packed full. The institute hosts over 60 events a year across the country and that number continues to grow. When we first connected with the institute and their fundraising department, they described their environment as organized chaos. They had a lot going on, which included creating and printing a large quantity of materials from brochures, to mailers, to event signage. They needed help from someone who would be able to scale with them. PUTTING OUR PROCESS TO WORK Immediately it was obvious – "These folks are stressed." If we were to replace the present vendor and only do the same thing, they would still be stressed. Not a win to us. We kicked off our More than Print process with agreed upon timelines for deliverables. Discovery – establishing current conditions – is our first step. We dug in. We identified all key stakeholders and organized planned site visits. We developed a question set which was provided to stakeholders in advance of the learning sessions we had with each individually. This was our opportunity to hear the good and the bad from their perspective. We made several visits to their material storeroom where we photographed and cataloged all items. We took note of what was on hand and their inventory management practices. Through discovery we mapped their purchasing and inventory management processes, which is a best practice we employ for getting a clear visual of current conditions.
